The Andero Lab belongs to the Neurobiology of Stress and Addiction Group at the Institute of Neuroscience, Autonomous University of Barcelona.
Our lab studies how stress changes the molecular mechanisms underlying fear memories in the brain of both mice and humans. Additionally, we aim to understand sex differences in these fear memory circuits. We believe that improving our knowledge of the fear memory mechanisms and circuits will help to translate basic findings into the clinic. Thus, we could find more effective treatments for patients suffering anxiety and fear-based disorders such as Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), panic disorder or specific phobias.
